Since 2008 Lakselv land owner's association has held an annual catch and release contest in Lakselva. The participants send in a contribution of themselves releasing a salmon back into the river to participate. A sufficient amount of spawning fish is necessary to fulfill the goal og minimum 3,5 tonnes of spawning henfish. The prizes vary from season licenses in the Lakselva to rods, reels, clothing, DVD's and more. Also, in 2011 the first prize will be an all-inclusive trip to Iceland for one, valued at NOK 30 000,- ~ £ 3400 ~ € 3900.

Also, as a step to conserve early springers, we have made a small change in the competition. Released big henfish before the 20th of July is now a new category. Released fish after this period is in the other category. We do however encourage fishermen to release fish regardless of season and this competiton, as it is a big contribution in preserving our naturally big salmon.



There are two different categories to participate in:

• Released salmon, regardless of time of season and gender
• Released big henfish (over 80 centimeters, before the 20th of July).
