Øvrevannsbrekket (Oivus)
Minimize

Øvrevannsbrekket marks the top boundary for zone 4, og it's found where Lakselva mouths out of Øvrevann (The lake in Skoganvarre) - find it by clicking here. From the road side, Øvrevannsbrekket is easily accesible from two parking spots, and there are two paths leading down to the both the upper and lower part of the rapids.

Here a fisherman is fishing the top part of Øvrevannsbrekket. There is a deep run goin to the middle of the river, which holds fish all the way down to the slow pool at the end of the rapids.

Øvrevannsbrekket is probably the part of zone 4 which is least sensitive to low water levels, but as it goes for the rest of zone 4, it's best fished at higher water levers,r ather than lower water levels. Fly patterns worth a try here includes the Green Highlander and Mikkeli Blue, but why not try a bomber or another dry fly? Particularly the top part of the rapids is very inviting for dry fly fishing salmon.

This photo is from the top of the rapids going down. The larger pool we see to the top of the picture is one of the real hot-spots for trophy grayling in the river.
