Zone 4 is the part of Lakselva which is found between the two big lakes (Øvrevann & Nedrevann). This part is characterized by having heavy rapids and large, lake-like pools. Zone 4 is also known to be a typical zone for the big ones, and there's been fought quite a few heavy battles in zone 4. The spawning habitat is known to be quite rough, and you need to be a big fish to make a spawning red in zone 4. This leads us to think that zone 4 har it's onw breed of salmon. Without big salmon, zone 4 would have been empty, and this is why we show extra caution in managing zone 4 - all salmon larger than 80 centimeters caught in august must be released.


The pool with no name, but many refer to it simply as Langstryket. It's a great pool!

Zone 4 is best fished at a higher water level, and it's known to be the most distinct early zone in the river. There are several pools in zone 4, and most of them are available from the road side (east side). Though, there's a couple of necks you won't be able to fish unless you have a boat. This explains why you will see some boats in zone 4.
